Reese and Jake

Tell me, what does these two movies have in common? Nothing really except that one grossed me out and the other had me go hmmm…They are as different as night and day, the sun and the moon. Ok you get my drift. Seriously, Ang Lee was phenomenal when he directed Brokeback but due respect to the gay community (not that there’s anything wrong with that), I couldn’t sleep after watching Jake and Heath. I am serious and I am not even a guy who is straight. I really couldn’t sleep a wink. I kept seeing pictures of 2 cowboys in my mind as I was tossing and turning in bed.

The news is out. I am sure you weren’t at all surprise from the rumours that was circulating before. Reese, to me would’ve preferred a much more established man. I mean, I always thought that the reason for her break-up with Ryan Phillipe was because she was a lot more in demand in terms of her acting career than him. Actors are also human and being a man, they have a certain ego that the wife shouldn’t be too popular or shouldn’t be earning more money. Not all men can accept the wife doing all that. Its sad but a fact for most.

Jake is a fine actor. So far, I’ve only seen 2 of his movies but he was good in both. Well, he is still young and probably madly in love. I do hope they’ll last but then, we are talking about Hollywood here. Nothing really lasts.

Trying Trying

Trying to get some links to my blogroll. Trying is the word. Nothing seem to work. Hmm…lets try again.

There are quite a few hosting services providers but not all are considered that good in the current web hosting review. In business web hosting means a lot which is why ideally dot5hosting or bluehost should be the first priority.

Baby Hit Me One More Time…Britney

Oooppss…she did it again! This time, Britney went beserk at the courthouse where both Britney and Kevin Federline were to testify for the custody of her 2 children (source :Breaking News).

Honestly, what did she see in him? I am lost. Totally. It can’t be the looks. No, this is the best picture I found of K-Fed and do you think he is good looking? And no, I am not going through the entire google search for the best ones. There probably aren’t any in the first place.

Poor Britney! Risking her career over this sleaze ball. It’s totally so not worth it. I know, no point crying over spilt milk but I say what I feel and I feel that custody of the kids should be granted to Britney after all that she has been through. Sure, she went into rehabilitation and bald but that is all HIS fault. His partying ways, his lack of responsibility, his ego which is too big for his head.

I don’t agree with her new look, her new friends but I sure hope that she gets her sons back. I seriously don’t think either one of them are fit to raise the kids at the moment but if I have to pick, I’d pick Britney, the lesser of the 2 evils.

During happier times.

My Theme

I have decided on the current theme after quite a long search. I am not very good at designing my own blog. In fact, that is an understatement. I know close to nothing about designing so there will be loads of other people having the same theme as I.

For me, its not crucial at this point as this blog is relatively new and I am still trying to get the hang using Wordpress. It can be daunting for a tech noob like me. Actually, I can’t even be called a noob since noob are new but they know a little of what they are ‘noob’ for. I think I am considered tech illiterate instead. That sounds terrible doesn’t it but its a fact, I am. I know nuts about the internet and all. I even had to bug Robert (the creator of this template) to help me insert the widgets and tweak the header pages a little bit. I had to ask him twice, once regarding the widgets and the second, the header pages. He obliged at both occasions which was very kind of him. Thanks Robert.

New web development core demands the explicit attention should be paid to each step, whether it is the website templates or he hosting. The flash templates should be dealt with expertise, since they are not any regular simple cv template. Professional with web design education should be preferred.

Whats up with the PageRank?

Woohoo…this shall be my first rant. Let me rant so to get this blog christian-ed with some good ol’ women bitching. Pardon the language but I am super damn pissed with all these google lowering the pageranks of some respectable blogs. Decent blogs who got hit are the victims.

What’s up with me? My blog has a page rank of a shameful number and why am I complaining? In the world of the ya-ya sista-hoods, we da sista’s and occasionally, the bruthers, who support the sistas, of bloggers stick together through thick and thin. So, if anyone of us gets hit, everyone start forming a mob and hit back.

Pagerank to most is very important because no one wants their blog to be read by no one but themselves. It is rather asinine. If you want to formulate your written thoughts in private where no one will find out, then go get yourself a diary, not have a blog. Blogs are meant for people who wants to communicate with people. Though some would say that they don’t mind if no one reads their blogs. Pardon me but I think, that’s a whole lot of bull!!

People generally seek and crave attention. They want to be popular. It is human nature. Everyone seeks to be famous. Blogging allows even the terribly shy individuals a platform where they can be who they are with no inhibition since there is no need to show your face if you choose not to. Since blogs are essentially represented by humans and as human nature goes, attention and popularity are pretty much an important factor. Therefore, a drop in your pagerank may indicate that you are not as popular as you thought you were or less sought after since its also human nature that people tend to flock to those who are popular. Just take a look at a celebrity and you will know what I am talking about.

So, even if you are blogging for the sake of blogging, a drop in your pagerank will have some effect on you. However, the most hit or the bloggers that feel the pinch most are those who blog for money. Granted that you started out blogging to stay sane or for the fun of it, when you start making money from your blog, your entire perception about blogging changes. Pagerank becomes the source of sleepness nights as it will affect your revenue since some advertisers use pagerank as a benchmark of how popular your blog is or there will be less paid post opportunities to choose from out in the paid post market. So, this pagerank thing, is important not to lose for those who blog for money.

Now we know the reason why a blogger’s pagerank is so important, what can we do to prevent further decline in our pagerank (if you have been affected by it) or what can we do to get back the pagerank that we were comfortable with? Frankly, there isn’t. No one knows how or why? We can only speculate. Google doesn’t announce a formula or a scoring system where your blog has to satisfy this, this and that to earn this and that pagerank. It is like Pentagon or something. Like the virtual tsunami, comes all of a sudden and wipes out everyone clean. Some barely surviving while some were lucky enough to come out unscathed. Most lost their livelihood and have to start from scratch.

So, now, can you see why I am pissed? Some of my fellow bloggers who have been making a decent living from their blogs are now left to fend for themselves and scrape whatever that is left. Worst is some even don’t want to be associated with some blogrolls for fear of a domino effect i.e if you are linked to an affected blog, your blog may be affected as well. That is just plain prejudice. Its like being scared of an AIDS victim if you sit near him. Come on? Do you lack in confidence so much that you would resort leaving your pal to save your own skin? Blogging is supposed to be a fun way of socialising and interacting plus earning some extra cash to spend (for most but if you quit your job to blog for money full-time then sorry la, I don’t have an opinion on this. I rather not). Don’t we already have so much pretentiousness in our everyday life that just because of money, it has to be that way in the blogsphere as well? Call me a naive noob, I don’t care. I honestly don’t know what is the social etiquette of the blogsphere. All I know is, blog because you love to blog. When your focus shifts to money, things like pageranks will get you down if they are not favourable to you. The only way is to be strong and independent. Find ways to overcome this pagerank issue. Don’t abandon those who have been there for you.

Relaxation, Pampering..words synonymous with Women

facial.jpg

I had THE most fabulous time today. It feels great being pampered once in a while. After all, we women like to look good and feel good. I would have loved to go on a relaxation or pampering marathon starting with a good massage, facial, manicure and pedicure and finally, the hair. That would’ve been the ultimate feel good sensation but I don’t have all day. I’ll content with just the facial for today.

The benefits of having a facial are aplenty. It helps rejuvenate your skin and your face will feel so much lighter. I have a combination skin, oily on the T-Zone area but dry down at the cheeks. A very tricky combo for any beautician. She had to whip up the mask concoction so that it doesn’t feel too dry for my skin yet moist enough. The after effects? Brilliant. You could see that the fairness of my skin tone has been unearthed and I looked as if I aged downwards. Ok, I attempted to inject some humour into this with the last bit. Did it work? Oh well, tell me what your last facial experience was and how you felt apart from your hair going hay-wire (she wrapped a towel along the outer parts of my face to keep the hair away from the “work area” and since she was at it for 2 hours, I looked real funny with my bangs all “standing up” after).

Newbie

I am a newbie to the blogging society for obvious reasons. Just take a look at my archive. Count the number of comments to my posts and please exclude mine. Then again, how do you classify a blogger as a “newbie” or a ‘professional’? Was I right? How do we know who are the professionals and who isn’t or a semi-professional? I don’t think quitting your job and blog full time constitutes being a professional blogger. I mean, I don’t have a job and basically I am doing this full time but the general consensus will be that I am no where near being classified a “professional blogger”.

So who or what actually determines whether a blogger is a newbie or a professional blogger? I mean, to be a professional accountant, there is an accreditation body that certifies you as an accountant. Is there something similar for our blogging society. Do we have a Professional Blogging Body that we can subscribe to virtually and a tests for us to take and a certificate handed out once we have passed the test?

I am puzzled but then, plenty would say that the newbie definition is simple straight forward one. As long as you are new to the blogsphere, you are a newbie. Is that it? I don’t know.

Ok, lets look at a few scenarios and perhaps you tell me, which blogger constitutes a ‘newbie’ :

1. Blogger A

Started blogging 3 months ago but having his comment box filled to the brim and makes even a profesional blogger looking like an amateur.

2. Blogger B

Started blogging 6 years ago. Kept his blog private to a few individual but only recently, started to go public with his blog. Comment box close to nil. Ok, maybe, give or take, 5.

3. Blogger C

Started blogging years ago. Made quite a name. Quit the blogging scene for a year but returned with a new blog. Different theme, different platform but the same personality.
