Insurance..again
I received a call a few days back from a complete stranger. It went something like this :
Me : Hello
Caller : Hello, my name is Michelle, W’s friend.
Me : Y…E…A…H (at this point my mind was blank and thought she came from another town and needed a place to stay or needed company)
Caller : I am wondering if you are interested in child education insurance?
Me : *that was it. Slam down the phone and call W to screw him upside down for giving my number to a total stranger for insurance purposes. He should’ve known me better* Err..I can’t really decide on this because I am not working and my hubby takes care of these things (had to let someone take the rap for it. I couldn’t possibly tell her the truth..That I am not interested in whatever she has to sell me or even talk to me about)
Caller : Oh in that case, when is your husband free? When can I come over to just give you a briefing. No obligations.
Me : *Never never you twirt!!* Err..he is very busy during the weekdays and during weekends perhaps but we are mostly out.
Caller : Ok then, call me when you are free. Make sure you call me 1 week in advance.
Me : Ok and thanks.
I couldn’t decide how to reject her consciously. I mean, if she was a complete and total stranger who approached me at the mall, I would just brush that person off and out of my mind when I say “no, I am not interested”. Where friends are concerned or people who knows your friends or are your friends’ friend, I get this nagging feeling that I should at least meet up or do something positive.
I figured, the best way to have some peace within myself was to find out if this Michelle is W’s girlfriend. At least I thought I owed Michelle that much. I quickly text W to ask him and his reply was “no, please, ewwww. She’s just a friend”. Case closed, don’t you think? ![]()
