Are you a believer? I know its an Asian concept but these days, it has become quite universal even popular with the West. It is hardly surprising since the East emulates the West and now, vice versa.
So why am I bringing this up? Nothing really, just that during my daily blog reads, I came across friends talking about their feng shui experiences recently. I personally have nothing against feng shui except that being a layman, I can’t really tell the real from the fake. For instance, my very first feng shui experience was on new year’s eve last year. He came highly recommended by hubby’s colleague. This particular feng shui master hails from China, very much sought after. So much so that we were actually not on his appointment list for the day and probably, for the preceding months as his schedule was packed to the brim before the CNY. He agreed to see us only after his scheduled appointment canceled at the last minute, leaving an empty slot for us. Oh and he doesn’t do feng shui after 5pm or was it 6pm? Now I can’t remember.
Frankly we didn’t prepare for him either. My hubby’s colleague approached him and asked if we’d like to have someone come look at our place. So, we agreed not knowing what to expect. My first impression of him was “he looked normal”. When I told my hubby that, he laughed and ask “What did you expect him to look like?”. He was very friendly. He wore a normal long sleeve shirt and pants much like modern everyday work clothes. Didn’t have much with him except a briefcase and the only items inside was his “bible” and a feng shui compass. The minute he came, he said “your house, bad”. OK, now thats not a very good sign. Oh I forgot to say that he only spoke mandarin so my hubby’s colleague has to be our interpreter.
The next thing he asked for was my hubby’s birth date and time of birth and then, he proceeded to perform some ritual!! heheh..no. He did some very complicated calculations on a piece of paper, folded the paper in a hexagon-like shape. Thats when the real feng shui interpretation came.
The gist of it was, our house, did not face the right direction for us. Essentially, it means not good. He recommended some stuff for us to balance the chi but he said that this is temporary remedial action not meant for the long term. One of the things he suggested for us was to place bamboo exterior shutters outside our master bedroom window. This is meant as a protection for me as he said that I haven’t been sleeping well in my room. Funny enough, it has some truth in it cos I haven’t especially when I was pregnant. I often sleep downstairs and even now, I still do sometimes.
There are just a few more things that we have not yet done cos hubby has been busy lately. Whether it worked, well, not much of a result as yet so I don’t know. I haven’t yet turn to disbelief but then again, I take most things with a pinch of salt. We all want to have good thing in life don’t we? I mean, as humans, we always want the best and constantly searching for answers towards happiness, contentment and the perfect life. Is feng shui the ultimate solution? For me, its not. I am still searching.
