At the beginning of this year, I did mention about this year being an “interesting” year for me, my family and I left it at that seeing as nothing had materialise yet. Well, things may be happening sooner than expected.
Well, the “interesting” bit would have to be, none other than, moving in with the IN LAWS!! Now, its nothing new, I’d stayed with them for a couple of years before we could afford our own place. But, the thought of us being together again, as a family, I’m sorry to say but simply sends shivers down my spine. I work well with just visiting and spending the afternoon a couple of times a week but to be there 24/7…that’s something to think about.
For one thing, I would lose all kinds of freedom including the one where I run across the hall naked!! hahahha…its a JOKE…lighten up! Ever since junior came along, there wasn’t even enough time to change my clothes, let alone get naked!
Not only that, moving is something I dread doing. With all the endless things to pack and organise (we have somehow managed to amass quite some pile of “junk” in the last 3 years and coupled with junior’s stuff, I won’t even want to imagine. I know what you are thinking “this could have been avoided had I not move out in the first place”. You have no idea…you have not the slightest idea.
With junior and the ever busy hubby, my last and possibly, only resort – http://reliancerelocation.com. An online moving company I found when doing some research. It claims to be customer orientated, trained service crew and above all, they know exactly how to attract folks like me – they are a budget moving friendly company. They are also reachable by phone (for those who just can’t wait for a FREE online quote) at toll free 800-949-6169.

This is the first of what will be considered as “many” home enhancement posts on this blog. The reason is simple really – I have a variety of passion and fussing about the home is/are one of them.
On top of the list is the garden and your garden would not be complete unless you have the best garden set. Many may have opted for steel, wooden, plastic or vinyl furnitures and these options are great but one that speaks of comfort and style at the same time is the wooden set – teak.
Teak or “tectona grandis” (as known within the scientific community) garden furniture have many varieties in itself. From patio sets, tables, to chairs, benches and lounges. It is a hard wood which is resists wind, pests, heat and severe weather. Also, very common for marine construction usage. Apart from its durability, the teak wood does not easily splinter, making it one of the most if not, the most popular wood furniture.
Furthermore, the desirability factor steps up a notch due to its evergreen look – elegant and classic. Another attractive feature of the teak furniture is the fact that it is easy to look after. Because of its high degree of durability, there is very little you need to do. Simply use a dry cloth to wipe off dusts. Apply a thin coat of a specially made teak oil (available at most furniture shops or outlets) on the surface of the furniture after cleaning it. The oil replaces all the natural oil that the wood loses over time and restores the glossiness of the teak, its hue and durability. Also, this will prevent spills or stains from seeping into the wood. Not very high maintenance at all, which is exactly what you need for an outdoor furniture set.

I was catching up on some news in our local daily today. Some boring, some interesting, some funny and some..just got me thinking. I’m not sure if she is a regular writer but her article about being surrounded by happy thoughts struck me. I wanted to know her secret formula for being happy. She started off by saying that she got the happy bug from her friend who is currently in a zippy mode renovating his pad. It was like a “transferred” happy feeling (if you can call it that). Then, she went on to describe how people equate happiness with material wealth. The more material wealth, the happier they are without realising that they are in fact more unhappy with the constant worrying about, say, their brand new luxury car being stolen at the car park resulting in fact, more unhappiness.
There is, to a certain extent some wisdom in what she had to say but are we then ultimately saying that poor people are happier without ending up being unhappy since they won’t own a luxury car to have it stolen in the first place? Thats the thing isn’t it? Poor people aren’t exactly happy and shinny either. Oh what they would give to not have to worry about whether they’d have their next meal, or whether they’d be kick out of their rented apartment soon for 3 months unpaid rent.
I feel the writer failed to address the issue of “what really makes people happy or unhappy?”. Its not about wealth or the lack of it. Its our level of contentment with life as there will always be circumstances where we’d feel happy or sad, irregardless of the reason and wealth is just ONE of them. Its about contentment and how contented we are. For instance, right now, I am contented though I don’t own a mansion in Beverly Hills or a real estate Branson. I do not drive a Ferrari or a Chevy either. However, I am contented with what I have – love, understanding and of course, some cash for spending. In that sense, yeah, I am happy and there is virtually nothing more that I could ever want. Well, except for that LV tote I’ve had my eye on *wink*.
