Today’s story comes in 2-parts.

First and foremost : the photo. This was shot while we were at a local Bird Park : Dubbed the Largest Free-Flight Walk-In Aviary in the World and true enough, it certainly didn’t disappoint. I will probably show you more photos in the near future but for now, this photo was taken at the parrots’ haven of the park. We were allowed to feed these little chirpy but loud birdies with sunflower seeds purchased at the park for a reasonable sum. As you can see from the photo, 4 of them decided to simultaneously perch on the woman’s hands for some yummy goodies. Also, let me tell you this : there were in fact more when we first saw them but a few flew away towards other feeding customers when they probably realized that this poor woman’s arm had limited standing space. Nevertheless, we caught the nibbling act just in time while the woman laughed and giggled away.
The next thing I had wanted to include with this story is that our nation will be celebrating it’s 51st Independence Day this Sunday. So, yeah, Happy Birthday Malaysia!
My country, despite its niggling flaws and it’s youth, is actually a wonderful country to belong and I am proud to call it home! I chose this photo for today because of the sheer vibrant colors of the birds’ feathers; that to me, represents exactly what we, the citizens of Malaysia, are - a melting pot of diverse culture, living in harmony and most importantly, full of life. Plus, my country’s name is proudly displayed around the wrist of an obviously excited tourist!. I don’t think this post has enough space for me to write plenty more pleasantries of my beloved country. It just won’t be justified. But, trust me when I say that if you were ever to visit us and once you have, you will never leave with an ounce of regret, ever - that I can promise you.
With that, it is our sincere hope that you and your loved ones will be surrounded by beautiful colors. Have a wonderful weekend!

I’ve got some exciting news - I will be traveling overseas again…after 4 years! That’s a long time to not have been anywhere other than in and around my own country.
The reasons are, in fact, plenty but primarily, it has everything to do with family. You see, Gnat’s siblings have all moved Down Under save for himself and his parents. And because of work commitments (mostly), they don’t often get to meet up. This year though, we’ve made it a point to travel there together with our newborn and his parents. Plus, this is the first time that Ash gets to actually meet, apart from all the photographs, her cousins, aunts and uncles. I am already excited just talking about it.
A bonus from this trip, for me, would be the opportunity to take fabulous photos for all to see. I can’t promise that I will be blogging much since it is after all a family reunion kind of thing. Although, I will be taking along all necessary blogging tools : you know, just in case something extraordinary happens that I can’t wait to tell you about.
That will be fun. And my photographing skills have improved quite a bit but still, there are plenty room for improvement..PLENTY! Besides, I need to, especially for this impending trip. I’ve set this obscene target for myself and I want to see how far I am able to reach it. Clearly, I wasn’t thinking much when I set it because at the rate I am going…gosh, I can’t even begin to imagine. I don’t even want to.
Anyway, that’s about all I have for you today. More tomorrow..till then, be happy, be nice to one another.

I know it is probably a little pre-mature to be thinking about Halloween but I figured, it probably isn’t. I mean, it is almost coming to the end of August and I am pretty sure September will go in a flash. And I am not too keen in doing everything at the last moment unless if I am forced to.
The easiest way in celebrating the occasion would clearly be simply deck ourselves up with hideous costumes (it is after all, the night of gouls and I am not inclined to be a fairy) and go out trick or treat-ing. But, no one will buy that here : we’re not in the States. So, I figured to have a party of my own. If I am going to do that, I think the first thing on my list would be to think of nice and fitting Halloween invitations
Just imagine, Ash and her first Halloween party! Am I a baaad mom or what??

My girl has been having trouble sleeping lately. We’ve been trying hard to find out the problem but from the looks of it, I don’t think there is. I’ve come to deduce that her sleeping pattern has just simply changed. And this sleep transition is anything but easy for my poor kid.
But, as what they’ve been saying is true - patience do pay. Though it was rather tough on us all, she seems to be getting back on track especially for her afternoon naps which she has had the most difficulty doing. This photo is proof of that fact as I found her fast asleep on the mattress one afternoon. And I’m happy to report that she’s been napping ever since, on that very mattress

If I told you what happened to us today, you wouldn’t even have believed me. We were on our way to the Immigration office this afternoon. Many hurdles along the way and not only were we late in getting there, we didn’t get anything done. The counters were still opened but within minutes of us arriving and getting ready to queue up, all processes were halted. Why? Systems down! Can you just believe our luck?
We waited for a bit. We walked around, trying to find ways to amuse ourselves. But, we figured that systems were not going to go on for quite a while. In fact, for a long time. So, we decided to get out of there and well, what can we say - another trip is pretty much mandatory.
On the way home, I saw huge billboards advertising of some college degree courses.
One of which was Pharmacy. I turned to Gnat and asked him “Why do you even need a degree to dispense medicine?” I thought the question was valid since all a pharmacy ever does is dispense medicine prescribed by the doctors.
Gnat just nod as he concentrated in driving while I continued yapping. I think, to a certain point, I was even talking and answering the questions myself! I went on to say “But, I know that pharmacy graduates make lotsa money. Especially so if they work for international pharmaceutical companies like J&J. You know, the company with very strong ethics and always act according to their credo values?”. Gnat continued to nod. I guess nodding means he agrees with me even if he wasn’t listening to a word I was saying.
We got home just in time before the storm. I munched on the snacks I bought and took a short snooze, hoping that when I wake up, I can revisit my horrible day without feeling bumped out and map out our next course of action. Oh, didn’t I tell you - we met with a minor accident on our way to the Immigration!
