Yes, truly was spectacular but unfortunately, we didn’t get our monies’ worth and almost got our camera lens confiscated! I’ll tell you what happened :

If it’s your first time at any tennis Grand Slam tournament, like we were, read the rules. They will plaster it all over the court. We were scheduled to watch Nadal play Ferrer on Australia Day for a spot in the semis. And there were a whole bunch of rules like what you can bring, what size lens etc…For whatever reason, I am sure it must be a good one. Oh and dont even bother with the tripod because it won’t be allowed in.

So, I thought, with my Nikon 70-300 I had the best lens in the house!! Next to the pro-photographers of course. Also, I was very tempted to bring along my tripod. I am glad I didn’t because during bags-checkin (yes, you’ve gotta open up your bags and let them rummage through your personals before letting you pass through), they told me I couldn’t bring in my lens. I could keep it in the lockers that they provided at the park. Can you believe it? WHat if I had a 70-200 which is way larger than my zoom? Doesn’t make sense but anyway, we just walked away for a bit until hubby had the most brilliant of all brilliant idea. He suggested to hide the lens in his pants pocket. He was wearing those cargo pants with huge pockets on the sides?

We went in through different lanes, and when the lady asked where my lens was (cos my camera body looked pretty crazy without a lens strapped in), I had to act fast and told her it’s in locked away and that I was told not to bring in. Seeing the crowd, she let me go without asking for the locker chit. And, I went through.

Phew! That was indeed a close one. But, hubby told me not to walk around with my camera just in case someone reported me bringing in “illegal” goods. So, I had to take pictures right where we sat. Which was not too bad but not so good for taking pictures cos I always get the sides. And the players walked out from the direction of where we were seated so I only snapped their backs instead.

Despite the lackluster performance by Rafa, it was a good experience inside Rod Laver arena. It was spectacular to say the least. I know, it’s nothing compared to Center Court at WImbledon or even Philippe Chatrier at ROland Garros, still..it was impressive.

We had every intention of going to the French Open next year but looks like, our trip to ROland Garros will have to wait a couple more years. We simply cannot afford the tickets currently. We will have to postpone it till a little later.

You know when she started dating Ashton Kutcher and how she was dating this guy 20 odd years her junior, everyone gawked. When they got married, they had a heart attack. I mean, this age thing, no matter what they tell you that age don’t matter? Well, honey, it does. Plenty much. For some unknown reason people are still obsessed with age factor, gender issues, racial compatibility..the list goes on and on.

So, when they got together, and were together for a while, people weren’t digging it. I never really gave much thought actually. Probably except the fact she got herself a squeeze to keep. Or so I thought. And to sort of not alllow herself to look older than him, she made it a point to camouflage her age. It must’ve taken her alot of effort to do what she did. I mean, she probably kept to a very strict diet, worked out tirelessly, and truth be told, she honestly did dress immaculately. I for one, wouldn’t have given a damn but not her – she made sure she looked the part. To me, she looked better than she did 20 years ago.

Sadly, her efforts have all gone to the dumps as after 6 years of marriage, they’ve split up. Tragedy if you must. I bet she truly loved him and thought the union would last. She should know better innit? Celebrity marriages rarely lasts. Well, maybe some do but mostly don’t. Not especially when you have a man like Ashton Kutcher. Not that he’s a hunk..but, he’s popular. Popular to warrant some kind of marriage safety net.

Anyway, she’s 49. Still have a few more years before she’ll grow into an old spinster…hehehe .

what is Ellen DeGeneres doing as an American Idol judge? She’s not a singer; neither is she a recording artiste. I have no freaking idea what she’s doing in the judges seat. Surely there are plenty more qualified judges in place of Paula. But, no…it’s got to be Ellen.

Could it be that she’s cheaper (in salary terms) compared to the others? hmmm…one wonders isn’t it?

Lets go for a little celeb gossip shall we and set aside anything that is normal for a change.

Last night I was watching E entertainment news. Since I am not living in the US, I don’t get live view of the current celebrity gossip. Our feed is at least a couple of weeks old. Ah well…any gossip will do.

Anyway, as I was saying, I was watching the news and one segment showed Tori Spelling spell-binding (pun intended) after child-birth figure and how she did it. I mean, seriously, that girl don’t look like she’s ever had given birth at all.

Apparently, she did it the au natural way — by exersizing and eating right. Seriously? I would’ve thought she went on a crash diet or had the best diet pill in town! LOL…or maybe, a super duper plastic surgery that was so good that it left no visible scar whatsoever. At least, not visible to the naked eye.

It was kind of fun wasn’t it? Talking about absolutely nothing at all. At least, nothing that is relevant to me or a benefit to me. I thought I’d just break the monotony just for a bit..:-D

Apparently, this girl who’s been living next door to my mom for a couple of months now, appears to be 2-timing her man. One day, its this guy and the next day, it’s another. For my old fashion mom (or at least she would like us to think she is all righteous and all…LOL…I am so mean), she found it disgusting that this girl could sleep with one guy and then, with another. Not simultaneously but you know…you get the drift.

So, this little charade between the 2 guys went on for a while until Tuesday night when I suppose the girl had the timing all wrong or that one of the guy felt that something was not right. It turned out that the 2 guys were at the house at the same time! Brother!! Luckily for one of them, he was about to leave in his car while the other had just arrived and walked in. Thankfully, neither one was naked or was caught in bed with the girl. If that were to happen…I don’t want to think of the consequences!

As expected, there were arguments, throwing stuff, the other guy spedding off with his dear life on the acceleration pedal as if he was Michael Schumacher. They weren’t loud enough for all the neighbours to come out for a view but loud enough for my mom to cling onto the glass door trying to catch every word and read lips. The entire episode lasted no more than 45 minutes before they both went inside the house. After that, who knows, she may have settle him with a few tricks of her own (if ya know what I mean…)

The story wasn’t as funny or intriguing as the fact that my mom was the one who was actually the one witnessing and telling the story. I mean, I’ve known my mom to be this examplary woman but I suppose, all women regardless of age or status, love a good gossip or a good cat-dog fight, don’t you think?  That or reviewing barcode scanners? I’d take that any day..*wink*

It is as bizarre as if you had read Angelina Jolie rejecting diet pills! Incidentally, I was in fact reading about Angie’s new twins that I came across the strange story. Why? Well, firstly, they are not a couple. Call me old fashion but how on earth do you even raise a child together when you are not…well, together? Am I the only one missing something here???

It’s all very odd for me. I know there are couples who have separated and are raising their child together but this is totally different. They were not a couple in the first place as opposed to couples who have been or are separated. If you’re not married and have a child, I can still accept that cos at least, you’re a couple. Get my drift? Don’t we have to be at some point a couple before the baby thing works out? I honestly can’t imagine raising a kid with my ‘dear friend’. If I don’t have the hots for him, no way am I gonna be carrying his baby. Just doesn’t work. Not to me at least.

Oh, so have you heard?? THE news??!!

Angie has given birth. And she was no, not in some fashionable place like Kenya or some fancy swhmancy place that even I can’t pronounce (or spell), a private lodging in the Aran Islands, County Clare. The brood were in France, one of the most romantic places on earth or so that’s what it is on paper.

That’s not all the bizarre factor about the couple. They have famously named their newborns, Vivienne Marcheline and Knox Leon. Wow!! Luckily they didn’t name one of them, Ireland cos otherwise, she/he might just be the butt of jokes among school friends. “Private rentals in Ireland?“. That would’ve been cruel.

So, now that they are a family of 8 (2 adults and 6 kids), I wonder what whether they would stop? And I wonder, how they do it? I mean, for instance, if they wanted to go mountain hiking in County Galway, how on earth would they do it? Especially with the myriad of staffs in tow. The entire mountain might have to be cordoned off just to fit the entourage.

Well, whatever it is, I am pretty sure that they will sort things out in no time. After all, they aren’t called “Brangelina” for nothing right…
