I have a question…

Do you do a DIY facial or have it done by a professional?

I have mine done professionally. The lady who does it is a friend of my moms and her charges are reasonably priced. Otherwise, I would have it done myself, the DIY method.

I have no complaints so far except that it would be interesting to know and learn how to do it instead of getting your face done by someone else. The problem with me is that I am not very good with removing blackheads. My sister works at it like a pro but not me. I just don’t get these things. I wish I knew though. It’s the inflicting pain onto myself part that I don’t particularly fancy and I still haven’t found a painless way of doing it.

Now, since I’ve set up the premise for my next question, is there a painless blackhead removal method? If you know of one, please do share it with me.

Have feet, will FitFlop!

I would take a photo of my feet and show them to you but I won’t. Well, I sort of do, partly because I have just sent my toes for a little spa pedicure and they are painted in a lovely shade of beige with slight hint of gold dust (I am not too sure what the deal here is with the ‘gold dust’, must be the Olympics just around the corner). The other part of me not wanting to show you my lovely groomed toe nails is that firstly, I don’t like showing off my naked feet. So, I need an accessory of some kind, like fitflops.

Yes, you heard me right – a FIT FLOPS! Launched last summer (and soon sold out), they are England’s answer to leg-slimming secret of women all over. FitFlops helps tone, trim and tighten. FitFlops incorporate micro wobbleboard™ technology, that gives you a workout while you walk. This challenges hard to reach muscles and has been shown to have significant effect on toning the muscles of your thighs and bum. Something all we women need, don’t we?

Fit Flops come in many colours and it wouldn’t be hard to find the right fit for your feet. The White Walkstar II Fitflops is a unique and classy pair. It has full leather upper and padded microfiber lining for additional comfort. It trims your thighs and bum in addition to being super comfortable. Incidentally, this super sandals are only available online. Now, isn’t that exciting?

I say - “Step aside gym machine, Fit Flops are the new kid in town. Get yours today!”.

The power of women

Although it has been stressed time and time again but I feel there is certainly no harm in saying it again - women are great.

You see, these days, society in general are more aware of the power of women. Doesn’t matter where that power lies, it could very well be at home or at work but nevertheless, women are being highly regarded. There’s no need for lengthy explanation for it, it’s simply because women have bigger roles in society these days. Women are at times, the breadwinner, the mother, the caregiver and they do it without complaints and sleep. Yet, they continue to trudge along.

Men can’t function without a woman. There’s no point denying, its a fact. Women these days are as capable as their counter-parts in many aspects and even better. Times have not changed much in terms of what women can do. It’s just men’s perception of them. In the early days, women continue to work albeit at home and even in the fields while caring for their family. Ask a man to do it and he would be complaining of a crying child that wouldn’t stop. So, you see, things haven’t really changed much. Women are made to work where ever they are. It’s just that in those days, opportunities were less.

Women these days are so much more equipped with business knowledge. Even if they are needed at home, they take advantage of small business opportunities to work from home. They have become more creative and innovative in their approach to earning a living, to relieve their family of financial burden. Much the same way as what women have been doing since the old days.

The rules are much more different these days. But the game remains the same. And the game is, that the women are the driving force in a man’s life.

Woman’s self worth

Most women I know or come across are either unhappy with their looks, body or hair. And the obsession gets worst when they age. I think this is a universal phenomenon. Unless of course, you come from Mauritania, where fat women are considered desirable. The children are force fed in order for them to gain the desired “fat” weight.

Again, this is purely a status frenzy where fat equals wealth and thin equals poor. So, if you are seen with a fat wife, it is perceived that you are wealthy or its a sign of wealth. Now, what a dumb rule is that? No, I’m not saying that fat is ugly, I mean fat also means poor health, obesity etc…And these poor women were forced fed as young as 7 at a “fat farm”. If they refuse to eat, they’d be punished. I’d say “punish whoever thought of this in the first place”.

Thankfully, this practice is soon to be archaic and where the traditional view of fat being pretty is now considered old fashion. Men now prefers women who are thin much to the delight of women all over Mauritania. Where have all the men been all these years? Force feeding is dying out. Bring out the Phentermine no prescription I say!!

Are baby stuff over-prized?

I find it hard to believe how much some of these baby stuff costs. Really, a baby T can costs as much as my over sized ones. You’d think that since baby clothes for instance are smaller, hence, the more you can get out of a piece of cloth that they would costs even less right? Wrong! They costs even more than an average adult sized shirt or blouse.

This is just an example of how much baby clothes may costs but what about toys and books. I doubt children books are that difficult to write. I mean, how difficult is it to write an ABC or a 123 book anyway? And yet, these publishers are getting mega bucks publishing and selling them to us. Savvy business people they are!

OK why am I complaining? Simple - I have to get some baby gifts for a kid’s birthday soon and I ain’t enjoying it. Don’t get me wrong, I love the kid dearly but the prizes are just over killing. They are killing me wallet!

Massage therapy

You know, in the days of my grandmother and possibly, my great grandmother, there were no such thing as pampering sessions comprising of spa, massage, facial etc…the works! They work hard in the field and at home. No such luxury in their life.

These days, things are slightly different. Ladies who work hard at work or at home, can often get a little piece of luxury. Taking a break or going for a foot massage or even a pedicure is quite common these days. I know I am one who is guilty as sin! What’s more, if you live anywhere remotely near my part of the world, the ladies don’t even have to lift a finger, they have domestic helpers. The only stress they have is making sure these helpers execute their orders to near perfection. Otherwise, it would be pure torture for these ladies to have to pick up after their inefficient maids. See how has my era has differ greatly from that of my grandmother’s?

It’s no wonder plenty of spa resorts have mushroomed recently. Not to mention, many flock from the rural area to their dream of a city life by becoming apprentices at beauty schools and massage therapy schools. It’s a great way to escape the threchery of having to work a long and hard labour in a small town with insignificant compensation. A trend I’ve observed lately especially among young women. Many have embarked on the beauty industry and all I can say is, from a women’s perspective, the more choices of pampering institutes we have, the better :-D

Financial freedom

This applies not only to women but to everyone in general. We should aim to achieve financial freedom at some point in our lives. As a child, there was no such thing. If we wanted to buy a toy, all we have to do is ask and sometimes, when we are good, we get it. Our toys were smaller and affordable then. Life was so much simpler. We would even be contended with playing dress-up in hand-me-downs.

As life progressed and we got older, our “toys” become more and more expensive and not as easily obtainable as before. We can’t just stick our hands out to say “I want” and be assured that we’d get it. Sometimes, we may have to take long term loans to finance the purchase. Now, that is when things starts to get complicated. Juggling just one (loan) is manageable but imagine, juggling more than that? Loans are not confined to housing or car loans but credit card loans as well. Or taking credit from a furniture shop constitutes a loan as well.

Too many loans and this is precisely the reason why people often default on their loans. During my days of working in the legal industry, I’ve seized assets, sealed properties for clients. Its not something I enjoyed doing but I’ve got a job to do. I would often advise these defaulters to seek foreclosure help. You know, you would think that people or adults have proper financial management skills but let me tell you that the majority don’t and often run into all sorts of financial problems.

So, don’t be a burden to yourself and your dependents. Equipped yourself with as much information as possible on financial management. Ask your friends. Look for investment consultants to help you plan your investments. Do what is right. Aim for financial freedom and lift that burden. Even if you don’t feel the need to but your dependents will be grateful.
