There are many many things you can do if you’re having a long weekend like we are having. COnversely, there are many many things that you should not do too for the holidays: traveling in the middle of the night. It’s the hungry ghost month and for this whole month, ghosts are allowed to roam freely and ‘live’ among us mortals. Sounds scary doesn’t it? OK..I shall not get myself deeper into this but just so you know, don’t take to any risky business at night.

I did say there were things you can do right? Well, yes, there are. You can go to the beach for one. Lovely sun all week, cool breeze, everything that makes going to the beach worth going. I can tell you’re probably drooling right now. Imagine a day out on those white sandy beach, lying on a mat with a martini in one hand and a good book in the other. You can lie there and read all day without being interrupted. Bliss.

Or, you could do some fun activities at home. You could re-vamp your closet, you could re-arrange the furnitures. Donate the old ones and get new ones. Get some fresh paintings for your living-room; they always seem to brighten up the day. While you’re contemplate doing that, you may want to give the walls a fresh coat of paint. You know, just so that the walls go with the painting.

You can also do something for the outsides of your house. Get new patio furnitures to fill your front yard so you and your family can have your meals outside whilst enjoying the fresh air. At the same time, you may want to improvise and have log furnitures instead. That would be awesome and neat.

Whatever you decide to do, just make sure it’s all in the name of good family fun. Or simply just for good fun; no stress, no tense moment. Simply let your hair down and relax for the weekend. Life is just too short; we have to learn to let go and enjoy life while we still can.

On that note, have a great weekend!

There is a big possibility that hubby will have to work remotely from home. POssibility. Before you shout “celebration”, let me just tell you that it isn’t all that dandy and rosy. For starters, this inevitably means that he’ll travel more. I’m certain you can tell that I for one, is extremely elated to have him home more often. Well, technically, it’s more of having flexible working hours compared to a fixed time period. But these are all conjecture and something that he and his company has to agree upon. So, nothing is firm up yet.

I will be honest with you though, I will be happiest when that happens. For one thing, I will have help; another will be the fact that the girls get to spend more time with their father. They just don’t get that as much and trust me, they don’t get enough of their dad!

So, in a way, I am kinda hoping it does happen; but yet, I am apprehensive about all the traveling and the frequency of it. It is times like these that I wish the girls are a lot older and a lot more independent.

However, nothing is firmed up yet; I shall just take the day as it comes. There can be some dreaming thrown in with all the waiting, don’t you think? hehhe…Especially about how we are going to decorate the home office. I mean, we will definitely need a new high-back chair for the desk. Our current chair isn’t all that comfortable. If I had it my way, I’d throw out all our existing furniture and grab new ones : more contemporary and modern office furnitures. Purely the idea of decorating sends me to seven-heaven..and back .

I’ll wait and see.

yep, this work week is short. But..so is next week. And apparently, the week after too. It’s great especially now that MIL needs help getting around. Hubby will have time to get her what she needs.

Apart from that, FIL is recovering. Still bleeds when he goes to the bathroom but according to the doctors, it’ll take a couple of weeks for him to be completely healed. But, he gets anxious each time he sees blood and you know, funny thought creep in I guess. I’m not sure what can be done at his age. I mean, the logical thing is to drink loads and loads of water and eat more. He claims he is doing all that but evidently, not much has changed. However, him, being the age that he is, I wonder if traditional stripped down methods will help as much?

I do hope he recovers. It will be less painful for him and for us all. It’s never easy being elderly and being sick. It’s tiresome and you don’t heal as fast. SOmetimes, you don’t even heal at all. Lets not even talk about the medical expenses; it’s crazy how much hospital bills can come up to. Nothing is cheap these days, not even your health. This is precisely the reason why it’s extremely important to get adequate insurance coverage for you and your family. I’m not joking either. After what happened to my FIL, we are now seeking new insurance coverage for us. As a matter of fact, hubby is meeting up with our insurance agent to get a revised insurance quote. Yup, hubby needs to get his looked at!

I watched the 2010 version of karate kid last night. It should’ve been called kung-fu kid instead. They shouldn’t have used the same title. I find it odd and just doesn’t do much justice to the real karate kid. What I like about the film was the scenes. So awesome the part where they climbed thousands of stairs just to drink from the water fountain.

Apart from that, the entire movie was so cliche. I’m just not used to watching Jackie Chan playing such a serious role. There were subtle humor here and there especially when he said “lets rock and roll” during one final scene.

Oh a mention about Jaden Smith – the spitting image of his dad. Actually, he’s a mini-me version of his dad. Seriously. His demeanor, his attitude, his sneakers. Speaking of which, I don’t know where he gets them from. They look majorly cool. I bet he gets them from sneaker stores in the US and not China hahahah…Well, too bad he’s only 12 because when he’s 18, he’ll be breaking hearts out there. So…better watch out world- Jaden Smith is in town!!

You’ll never believe this but last weekend we were in for a rude awakening. FIL ended up in the hospital. Because of his age and this happening for the first time, we were all a nervous wreck.

But, thank GOD he’s back home now and doing so much better. He went to the hospital for a medical procedure to remove the stone from his bladder and to correct his enlarged prostate. Everything happened all of a sudden and the surprise was definitely not one that we’d like to have repeated.

We brought him to the hospital upon the GP’s referral. We didn’t even decide to go to his regular University Hospital where FIL is a pensioner but to another private hospital. We knew that if we brought him to UH, there will be delays and whatnots. This private one was way more efficient and they assigned him the urologist immediately. Of course, we will have to pay through our noses or more like, we already did but nevertheless, we didn’t think about what it would have cost us then. All we had in mind was FIL and how we were gonna get him well.

After this episode, hubby’s now scouting around for possible insurance policy for his parents. They don’t have insurance plans because like I said, they are pensioners and well, the government’s supposed to take care of them. After this incident, we are not taking any chances; we will be hunting for one soon. Although, we have no clue as to what kind of insurance plans we are looking for; possibly one that is as good as the NC health insurance, if we can find one. And, nothing less mind u, we are talking about saving lives here!!

Gosh, has it been that long since I’ve posted?

Yeah, I think so. I have just been…I don’t know. Wondering sometimes what it all means. Then, I realize that it is known to many of us as L.I.F.E.

I am just rambling on. I have no idea what I want to talk about. There’s so many things on my mind right now. Of course, none of them life-threatening but nevertheless, something to think about. I am glad at this stage, the kids are still young and we have time to figure out what we want to do with them. There’s talk of migrating; MIL brought it up again after a long lapse. It’s no secret but we have thought of it a couple of months back but shelved it because of PIL’s health and condition.

What else? Shopping? I did a fair bit for the past 2 weekends. Didn’t buy plenty but enough for me because although I don’t mind shopping but I’m not the type to comb the malls. The more shops, the more overwhelmed I get. I honestly get intimidated by the great variety of selection instead of embracing them with open arms. It’s an honest to God truth. That explains why even though, the idea of having or owning a fashion boutique did appeal to me but it never took off because I simply won’t know where to begin. I think I’d be afraid of the many types of clothes the wholesale apparel supplier has to offer. I won’t get turned off, just afraid.

Oh it’s August. Some of us are fasting due to the holy month of Ramadhan. After which, I am so going to pig out at our friend’s place. I love malay dishes. So yummy so lovely so…emm..i am hungry right now, I think I’m gonna grab a bite.
