1st part here..

His name is Aaron. For the most part of his life, he was an only child. He had everything that his mom and dad could give and all that money could buy. Though they were poor middle-class workers, they made sure Aaron lived his dreams. From expensive toys to Beautifeel shoes to private education. They lived lavishly and slogged hard by working 3 shifts a day, making sure that little Aaron has everything.

But Aaron wasn’t a happy child. He began resenting his parents for being away for many hours in a day. They were always busy doing something. To get their attention, he would always get into trouble in school by picking fights with other boys and even the teachers. Still, they never knew or came to realise that all that little Aaron wanted was for them to be a family. He wanted his mom and dad.

Then the crunch came. His mom gave birth to his sister 8 years after he was born. His mom gave her all the attention she wanted. This made Aaron even more angry. He couldn’t forgive them, he swore he never will.

One winter morning, a day after his 18th birthday, when Aaron’s mom realised that it was past 8.30am hat he still hadn’t come downstairs for breakfast. A time that he normally does, just not that day. She went up to his room and found him missing. Distraught, she called out to his father. They both went into the room and his dad found a letter. A letter telling them that he has gone away to find happiness. They never heard from him ever since.

As she sat there, in the dark, wondering what he looks like, what will they talk about. It has been years, it has been far too long.

She has exactly 3 hours before meeting him. Her heart racing both with excitement and anger. “What a jerk. He probably wants money. He doesn’t even know.” she thought to herself while getting dressed.

She went down for breakfast. “Thanks mom” she said with a smile, in absolute gratitude. “Please be nice Drew. No matter what he has done, he is your brother” reminded her mom. She nodded but only out of respect. Unfortunately, she can’t find it anywhere in her to forgive him after all the grief that his actions brought to their mom and dad. Especially dad.

“Drew?” he said. His hair ruffled but clean shaven. He looked neat unlike the boy of 18 who ran away. She certainly wasn’t expecting the Aaron that stood before her. She almost felt guilty for feeling the way she has been all these years – full of resentment and hate. With him, there was a young lady and a baby boy.

“Yes” she said.

“You look great” he replied, respectfully, almost afraid. “This is my wife, Emma and son, Ben”.

She was lost for words. Little Ben looked so adorable with his little cap. Emma was kind, extending her arms towards Drew, signaling a hug. Drew returned the hug and afterwards slowly turned towards Aaron and said “I’m sorry Aaron but dad is gone. He passed away 5 years ago”.

Aaron was stunned. Even though he didn’t say a word, he was full of grief and remorse, she could tell. His eyes became watery. When he looked up, Drew immediately saw the same look that their father had when Aaron ran away. It’s too late now, far too late.
