School memories

shoes.jpgNow, the only thing I look forward to about school was 1) lunch-money and 2) Funky shoes.

As I got older, I looked forward to more lunch-money and funkier shoes. It is only natural. All the cool kids had them.

Sadly, I had neither.

I only had 20 cents per day and a lousy pair of Bata. The cheapest kind. When I entered secondary school, lunch-money was 1 dollar and still, the same lousy cheapest Bata my parents could get their hands on. Of course, back then, I never did appreciate the fact that I even had lunch-money despite having brought lunch from home and I had new shoes at every start of the school year. Nope, I resented my shoes and all that I had. I never gave a thought to those who had no lunch-money and had to wear shoes donated by charity.

Things are certainly different now. For starters, I’m older and am no longer going to school. Plus, my shoe preference these days has changed, a lot! But if I could go back in time, I would definitely apologise to those whom I’d scorned in my heart for wearing anything less than a Bata.

Nevertheless, if you have school-going children and are looking for someone who knows all about school shoes, Start-rite may be able to help. Dating back to the 1700s, this company certainly knows a thing or two about shoes. What began as a small shop just behind the Norwich market, it has grown tremendously in the wholesale business, supplying to more than 400 retailers across the UK and the international markets.

With such a rich historical background and extensive experience in children’s fitted footwear, Start-rite may be your next stop when the school term starts in fall.
