The gift

This was F and Cindy’s going-away present.

We chose it because we wanted to give them something to remember not only us but also, the place where they’ve called “home” for the past 13 years. And since I had a couple of photos of KLCC which were taken during our short gettaway in the city on New Year’s eve last year, the selection was alot easier.

As it turned out, according to Cindy, they don’t have a photo of the KLCC. How perfect! I was initially worried about how we might be giving them something they already have tons of. You know, being an expat in our country, I was dead sure that they’d have plenty of souvenir-type images or souvenir thingy. Since that wasn’t the case with them, I felt a sense of relief and even more so when F and Cindy really loved it. I am glad :-D .

The only thing I didn’t do was sign my name at the back of the photo which Cindy reminded me that I should. I don’t know…I guess, I just don’t think I’m there yet…at that place. The place where true artists belong. I am but a mere wannabe or a really green amateur who is currently lacking the confidence in her work. Maybe someday…who knows. Certainly not now.

Well, anyway, the visit went well and my anxieties are now over with. I can breathe a little. As I am typing this, they are currently on their way, in a plane to their new destination. It’s closer to Cindy’s home (she’s from the States) and I think, despite all the reluctance of leaving, they would really love it there. Plus, I wonder if they would be bringing along those lovely bed frames left in their current home. We saw slides of their new home – it’s beautiful! I hope to visit them one day.

Aside from our visit, I managed to get what I wanted – the SB600 speedlight. Amazing! But you know what the not-so-amazing thing about it is? It’s the fact that the flash came with a manual and that inevitably means that I have to learn how to use something all over again! Just when I thought I’ve gotten comfortable my camera…now, I’ve got to learn something new…sigh. But, I have a hunch, it’d be worth it in the end.
